Fold and Form is used to rehabilitate pipe between manholes. Varying in standard dimension ratios, Ultra liner PVC alloy come on a real with a predetermined pipe length and diameter. It is heated, pulled into the host pipe and reformed with steam and air. Service laterals must be reinstated robotically with cutters and camera. The most common of host pipes are VCP, ACP, CMP, RCP, CIP, DI, and of course ABS, and PVC. The plastic host pipes are more difficult to reinstate laterals in, the blade of the cutter can not distinguish between plastics. Although the diameter of the wall line is reduced by the thickness of the wall liner, the new smooth seamless pipe has less friction lose and compensates for this diameter change. Fold and form installation and lateral reinstatement increases in difficulty as the diameter decreases. Four inch and six inch pipe are far more difficult to install than an eight inch pipe. |
